The third edition of this event – started in 2010 and four years – is the best ever for Portugal, as it also secured three silver medals: again by Alexandre Montez, in the individual triathlon (he was champion in mixed confusion), male beach handball and the mixed pair Madalena Cavilhas-Manuel Candeias, in the multidisciplinary gymnastics competition.
There were 41 young Portuguese sportsmen, aged between 15 and 18 years, representing 12 different modalities in Argentina. The Portuguese delegation obtained rankings up to sixth place in seven of these modalities.
In Singapore 2010, Portugal took 19 athletes and collected three medals (one gold). Four years later, these numbers were for 21 athletes and four medals (two gold).
