The men’s A selection last Monday played the first round for the World Cup in Germany/Denmark 2019. Against Serbia, the Portuguese handball team lost the match by 28-21.
The team currently led by Serbia coach Ljubomir Obradovic opened the scoring nad, despite the portuguese players equaling the result, quickly created a gap in which Portugal tried to recover, but without success.
Paulo Pereira, coach of the Portuguese team, says that Portugal could not be effective but that “are points that we have to correct for the next game, we knew that it would be very difficult to win here, even though that was our intention. Three goals in the first and second half, we have to make four, four and for that we need everyone’s support.”
The good news is that Portugal still has chances of conquering the dream. It is already tomorrow the second meeting with Serbia, now in the Municipal Pavilion of Póvoa do Varzim, starting at 9pm.
